FAQs

If you don't find the answer to your question here, feel free to ask us. You can email us at admin@joymandarincenter.com or send a message directly from our site.

  • How long has Joy Mandarin been running?

We were established in 2010, so up to now about six years.

  • How many students do you have? Where do they come from?

Over the past 6 years, many students from all over the world have become JMC students and family members. Their ages range from 5 to 70 years old! Most of our students are working in Beijing, and want to learn Chinese for use in daily life, but we also help students who are preparing for the HSK and other Chinese language exams. Most students come from America, Europe, and other Asian countries.

  • What are your working hours?

We can provide classes from 8am to 9 pm on weekdays, and 9am-6pm at weekends. Students who take one-on-one classes can choose any time slot they like.

  • How can I apply for a course?

You can apply for a free trial class online, send us an email, or call us on 010-5627 4331. We do our best to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.

  • How can I pay for a course?

You can pay by cash, make a bank transfer to our school bank account, or pay by card. Because of the processing costs, card payments require an additional 1% fee with a Chinese card and 3% fee with a card from abroad.

  • What are the teachers like?

We take a lot of care when choosing teachers to work with us at JMC. All JMC teachers are university graduates, and the vast majority of us have majored in teaching Chinese as a foreign language or in Chinese language. All our teachers are from northern China and speak with standard Mandarin pronunciation. We also provide teachers with at least 3 months training before they start giving classes. If you want to see what our students think of our teachers, take a look at our student testimonials and see what they have to say!

  • Will the classes be taught in English?

All our classes will be taught in Chinese to give students a fully immersive Chinese atmosphere. Even for absolute beginners, our teachers will only use a little English to help you understand. We have some French, Russian and Mexican students who can’t speak English at all. Our teacher will use pictures, videos, gestures and body language to help students to learn. As your Chinese level progresses, less and less English will be used in your classes and you will be able to understand more and more every day.

  • Is it possible for me to have class in my home?

Yes, we can arrange for a teacher to go to your home or any place you would like to have class. Because of the travel and time involved, we have to charge an additional fee for outside classes depending on the distance the teacher has to travel. However we believe it's best for students to come to our school for classes. In our school, you'll have a strong language environment, which will greatly improve your ability to learn the language and practice.
